Dear Friends, 
Summer is always a busy time of year for everyone. We hope you make time to sew, quilt, or take one of our classes this summer. 
Below are the Class and event schedule.   
 
Come in out of the heat and join us on a test drive a Janome Sewing machines or pick up a new quilt project. 
We are available to assist you with your quilting projects or start a new project using the new fabric, patterns, and notions. 

Consider join us for the Greater Houston Shop Hop Quilting Cruise on Feb 18 - 25, 2018. The Quilting Cruise has to offer with three unique ports of call (Cozumel, George Town, Grand Cayman and Falmouth Jamaica) plus quilting classes taught by Houston Shop owners and teachers. If you would like more information about the cruise or to sign up for the cruise please contact Al Magee 713-729-3040 or email him: almageecruises@aol.com. 
The Shop will be closed on July3 & July 4 for the 4th of July Holiday.

Come pick your price out of our pot. Discount coupons range from 25% to 75% off any single cut of 45" fabric or book. 

Friday/ Saturday Sampler

This year's quilt is Shabby Fabric ® Vintage Rose.  Each block of this wonderful quilt incorporates basic piecing techniques such as half-square triangles, squares, and hourglass blocks.  Quilt finishes to 68" x 68".  Each Month kit consists of fabric and instruction for pieced 12" block. Participants must buy the first blocks fabric kit for $6.00 and the pattern for $24.00. Bring the completed blocks back next month to receive the next blocks kit free. If you chose to finish your quilt like the pattern a finishing kit is available.
Stitchery Club
 
Date:  Jun 16 or 17, Jul 21,or 22,  Aug 18 or 19             
Time: 12:30 pm - 3:30 pm
          
A Cactus Quilts' get-together that is reserved for the individuals to do stitching by hand and not by machine. 
Sometimes a change of scenery, some good company, and a little help from others can make the difference in your projects. Bring your needlework project that you would like to work on.  
Examples of needlework projects include but is not limited to Embroidery (Basic, Brazilian, Cross Stitch, Crewel, Chicken Scratch...), Appliqué on cotton or wool, or English paper piecing. There will be someone in the shop to help in case you run into difficulties!   So join us for a fun afternoon of stitching.
2017 Row by Row Experience

Collection for a Cause "Sunshine" Hawaiian Shirt Quilt  

Date:  Jun 30 and July 21
Time: 10:30 am - 2:30 pm
Fee: Class consist of 2 session.  The cost is $20 per session for a total of $40. 
         Plus the cost of pattern and/or kit

Have you seen the new MODA fabric Collection for a Cause "Sunshine" and its pattern? It unique fabric collection of inspirational 1950's Hawaiian fabrics shirts that was created by Howard Marcus as a memorial for a devoted MODA employee. The pattern show off the beautiful fabrics.

So join us as we guide you thru the process of creating the fabulous quilt. In the first session, we construct the shirt blocks. In second session, we construct the sashing and assemble the Quilt top.

Collection for a Cause "Sunshine" Pattern and Kits are available for purchase.
Dimensional Wreath or Table Topper

Fee: $45.00

Get a jump start on your Christmas decorations with this lovely 3 dimensional wreath. You can also make a wreath for any other occasion by varying your fabric selection. The pattern is available in the shop, in addition to all supplies listed on the back of the pattern. You will also need your sewing machine and basic sewing supplies.
Supplies:
- Fold' n Stitch Wreath Pattern (required)
- 5/8 yard of 3 different fabrics
- other Pattern listed supplies
- sewing supplies such as thread, pins,...
- Sew Machine capable of doing a zig zag stitch
Project Half Done (PHD)
Fee: $10.00 (pay at the door)

Just about everyone has some quilting project that is in various stages of completion that you just can't seem to make time to finish. 
Sometimes a change of scenery, some good company, and a little help from other quilters can make the difference in finishing that "PHD" (project half done)!
Bring your own snacks and drinks - microwave and refrigerator will be available for your use. Bring any quilting project you would like to work on - there will be someone in the shop to help in case you run into difficulties!

Rail Fence Quilt
Date:  Jul 11, Jul 18, Jul 25, Aug 1,  Aug 15
Time: 10:30 am - 2:30pm
Class consist of 5 session.  The cost is $20.00 per session for a total of $100. 
 
This is the class for all beginners. In the first class, Carla will teach you how to select your fabrics for color and value, rotary cut for strip piecing, and how to make your blocks. In the second class, learn how to sew your rows together matching all corners. In the third class, add borders to complete the quilt top. In the fourth class learn to sandwich your quilt for machine or hand quilting. In the fifth class, learn how to put on binding to finish your quilt and add a label to date your masterpiece. Bring a sack lunch and enjoy the time with other quilters.
Jelly Roll Placements

Are you looking for something to do with a jelly roll you purchased some time ago? This is the perfect project. One jelly roll will make 4 attractive placemats. Another idea is to use up all the surplus pieces of binding fabric you've been saving for years. This project doesn't require a pattern, it's just a sewing technique that I will share with you. In addition to your sewing machine, rotary cutter and basic sewing supplies, you will need:

1 jelly roll (or the equivalent in surplus 2 1/2" binding ~46 yds)
1 ¼ yd fusible fleece
3/8 yd coordinating fabric for binding
